Use live shrimp, sand fleas or fiddler crabs on a small hook fished on the bottom. When cleaning, beware of the sharp gill covers.

The body has a lightly colored background with vertical black bars on sides | Prominent teeth, including incisors, molars, and rounded grinders | Dorsal and anal fins with strong, sharp spines

Size:
Up to 36 inches

Habitat:
Coastal waters near structures such as oyster bars, seawalls and tidal creeks. They move nearshore during late winter and early spring for spawning.
